Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable a modulation in density due to a change in ink volume and to make a large-diameter nozzle usable, by providing a heating means along an ink drop flying path. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric element such as a piezoelectric ceramics 1a is provided on an ink jet head 1. Along ink drips 12 generated due to the application of a voltage of a fixed frequency to the piezoelectric element, i.e. along a flying path of the ink drips 12 from a nozzle 1 to a gutter 2, a porous body 15 having heating elements 14 is disposed. The porous body 15 is so constructed as to be heated to a fixed temperature by a heating element drive circuit 16. In this manner, if the ink drips 12 are made of a water-soluble ink, a water is evaporated; if an oil ink, a solvent is evaporated. Thus, the ink drip 12 is made smaller in diameter when reaching to the gutter 2 than it is just after being jetted out of the nozzle 1.
