Abstract
PURPOSE: To check whether the operation of a water level detecting end at electrode bars is normal or not by bringing plural pieces of the electrode bars having different lengths into contact with liquid.
CONSTITUTION: Plural pieces of the electrode bars 2W5 having the different lengths are provided to this device and the device is so constituted that an on signal is emitted by the contact of the bottom ends of the respective electrode bars 2W5 and the liquid 1 and an off signal is emitted when there is no contact. Since the abrupt change of the water level cannot arise, the signal detection operation of the electrode bars is repeated at every short period and the signal detection state of the next point of the time are compared. Estimation is then made that the line of at least any one of the electrode bars is faulty if the signals of ≥2 pieces of the electrode bars change from on to off or from off to on. The operation conditions of the water level detecting end such as the failure in the detection of the water level by the deposition of scale on the electrode bars and the consequent insulation of the electrode bars and the defective operation by a short circuiting are thus checked.
