Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately detect the stains of magnetic head by providing a read-out signal level judgement circuit, an internal block detecting circuit, an abnormal block judgement circuit and a head stain judgement circuit. CONSTITUTION:The signal from the read-out circuit 1 of head is supplied to a read- out signal level judgement circuit 2, which in turn generates the first and second output signals depending upon whether the read-out signal higher or lower than the specified level. This and the signal of a block detecting circuit 3 are applied to a block judgement circuit 4 which then counts the number of the second signals between the specified numbers of the first output signals and generates an abnormality signal when this is above the specified. Where the number of the abnormality signals becomes more than the spcdified, the head stain is judged. Hence, the stain of the head may be detected from the change in the read-out voltage of the head and more than required cleaning may be eliminated.
