Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a magnetic coil for driving a printing pin from burning and and avoid missing in printing dots by a method wherein the resistance of each magnetic coil assigned to each printing pin is measured, the measured values are processed to obtain a single measurement result and the latter is compared to a reference value. CONSTITUTION:Resistance change detecting circuits 17 are provided to detect the changes in the resistance of the magnetic coils 13, respectively. When the temperature of the coil 13 is raised to increase the resistance RL thereof, the output voltage of an amplifier 24 is increased. The outputs of the detecting circuits 17 are connected commonly to a comparison circuit 19 through diodes 18 respectively, and the highest of the outputs is inputted into the cmparison circuit 19. Said highest output is compared in the circuit 19 to a set voltage of a power source 20 for the reference resistance, and when it is higher than the set voltage, a high-level signal is outputted from the circuit 19. An AND circuit 22 generates a high-level signal when both the output of the comparison circuit 19 and the output of a inverting circuit 21 (which generates a high-level signal when a printing-head driving signal is at low level) are high, and cause a temperature alarm 23 to issue an alarm.
