Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent sodium electric discharge in a light emitting tube and also prevent sodium dissipation in the tube because of adhesives at the tube end by affixing an insulative substance to the outer surface of the tip of electrode conductor of a sodium lamp. CONSTITUTION:An electrode conductor 3 is fitted at the end of an alumina light-emitting tube 1 of a high voltage sodium lamp, with an insulating cap 6 interposed, and that surface of electrode conductor 3 which is not surrounded by the insulating cap 6, is fixed to the end of alumina light-emitting tube 1 by a seal 5. Accordingly the sodium amalgum 4 encapsulated in the light- emitting tube 1 is not electrically contacted with the electrode conductor, so that there is no risk of damaging the tube by electric discharge from the amalgum 4 at the time of lamp starting. There is either no risk of the seal 5 flowing into the tube 1, so that it will never react with the sodium in the tube 1 to cause dissipation thereof.
