Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a flexible flame retardant fiber excellent in tear strength, having improved wet wrinkle resistance, and excellent in durability by dipping a fiber material in an aqueous solution containing a flame retardant of a purified aminophosphazene, and an acid catalyst, drying the dipped fiber material, and curing the dried fiber material. CONSTITUTION: A fiber material such as cotton, linen, rayon, silk and wool is dipped in an aqueous solution containing flame retardant of a purified aminophosphazene (after removing ammonium chloride), and one kind of acid catalyst selected from sulfuric acid, zinc nitrate and zinc fluoroborate, and the dipped fiber material is dried, and cured at 80-200 deg.C to provide the objective flame retardant fiber excellent in tear strength and resistance to washing and hardly causing generation of formaldehyde. The purified aminophosphazene is obtained by inserting an aqueous solution of crude aminophosphazene containing a large amount of the ammonium chloride into a large amount of an alcohol to precipitate the purified aminophosphazene.
