Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retardant fiber excellent in tear strength and durability by dipping a fiber material in an aqueous solution containing a flame retardant of a derivative of an aminophosphazene, obtained by substituting the hydrogen of the amino group of the aminophosphazene with methylol group or the like, and an acid catalyst, and curing the dipped fiber material. CONSTITUTION: A fiber material such as cotton, linen, rayon, silk and wool is dipped in an aqueous solution containing a flame-retardant finishing agent of an aminophosphazene derivative, and an acid catalyst, e.g. one kind of catalyst selected from phosphoric acid, hydrochloride of 2-amino-2-methylpropanol, ammonium chloride and the like, and the dipped fiber material is dried and cured to provide the objective flexible flame-retardant fiber excellent in tear strength and resistance to washing. The aminophosphazene derivative is obtained by substituting the hydrogen of the amino group of the aminophosphazene obtained by reacting formaldehyde with a general trimer, tetramer or the like of the aminophosphazene, with methylol group or methoxymethylol group.
