Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a ceramic-based superconductive wire body efficiently by roll-machining a metallic pipe body filled with ceramic-based superconductive material or its raw material mixture with a total roll-down ratio of 50% or more, slicing to a specified width to expose part of the content in the metallic pipe body, and performing sintering process. CONSTITUTION:Filling a metallic pipe body 1 tightly with powder 2 of ceramic- based superconductive material or its raw material mixture, the opening is sealed as required and rolled down to a specified thickness t. The total roll- down ratio at this time is made 50% or more. The material is then sliced to a specified width w to expose at least part of the powder filled in the metallic pipe body, and then sintered to obtain a wire made of the metal 11 and the superconductor 12. This makes it possible to make even the ceramic-based superconductor of poor machinability efficiently into the wire form and to obtain the continuous wire of excellent superconductivity.
