Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a superconducting ceramic wire having a high critical temperature and a large critical current density by providing coatings on the surface of a wire consisting of superconducting ceramics sintered densly and strongly. CONSTITUTION:Overlayers are provided on the surface of a wire consisting of 100wt.% of supercouducting oxide microcrystals of less than 5mum in mean crystal grain diameter composed of rare earth elements, alkaline earth metals, copper and oxygen and 0.2-5.0wt.% of copper oxide. Fine oxide powders composed of rare earth elements, alkaline earth metals, copper and oxygen and a solution consisting of organic copper compounds are mixed, formed wire-like and sintered in a gas atmosphere containing oxygen in the temperature range of 750-980 deg.C to produce the said wire. Then overlayers made of metals and plastics are provided on the surface of the wire. Thereby a superconducting ceramic wire having a high critical temperature and a large critical current density can be obtained.
