Abstract

PURPOSE:To make an optical printer head thin in the direction of the optical axis of an LED array, by a method wherein, a plurality of LED arrays are bonded in a line by a conductive material on an end face part of a metal plate in the condition of being packaged on film carriers, the film carriers are bent between the arrays and arrays drive elements to be approximately parallel to a plane part of the metal plate, and input electrode parts of the plurality of film carriers and a circuit substrate are electrically connected. CONSTITUTION:LED arrays 1 packaged on film carriers 4 are bonded to a metal plate end face part 3a with a conductive material 5. A metal plate 3 is used as a common electrode for the LED arrays 1. To ensure a printing width required as an optical printer head, the LED arrays packaged on normally the two or more film carriers are bonded in a line on the metal plate end face part 3a. The film carriers 4 are bent at wiring parts 4a provided between the LED arrays 1 and LED drive elements 2 to be approximately parallel to a metal plate plane part 3b. Input electrode parts 4b and a circuit substrate 6 are electrically connected by soldering etc. so as to allow an LED drive signal to be inputted. In this manner, an optical printer head can be reduced in thickness.
