Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a stable superconductor having high critical temperature, by heat-treating an oxide superconductor precursor containing a group IIIa element, a group IIa element, a group Ia element of the periodic table and a halogen element, etc., in an atmosphere composed of halogen gas and oxygen. CONSTITUTION:The oxide superconductor precursor used in the present process contains a group IIa element of the periodic table (e.g. Y, Sc, La, Ce, Yb, Er, Dy or Ho) (the element A), a group IIa element (e.g. Sr or Ba) and a group Ia element (e.g. Cs) (the element B), a halogen element (e.g. F or Cl) (the element X), Cu and O. The precursor is heat-treated in a halogen gas atmosphere and then in an oxygen atmosphere to obtain an oxide superconductor expressed by the general formula A-B-Cu-O-X.
