Abstract

PURPOSE:To stably form a noble metal-plating film excellent in adhesive strength, by previously applying pretreatment under specific conditions at the time of plating the surface of a Ti material with noble metal. CONSTITUTION:At the time of plating the surface of a Ti material as an ornament with noble metal, such as Au and Pd, the surface of the Ti material is cleaned by means of degreasing and acid treatment and then immersed in an aqueous solution containing 0.2-0.4% ammonium hydrogen fluoride and 15% sodium hydrogensulfate as a water-soluble reducing agent, by which the minute acicular layer of titanium hydride (TiH2) is formed on the surface. Subsequently, the above surface is electroplated with Ni, and this Ni-plating film is heated in the air up to >=200 deg.C, e.g., for 30min. Finally, the above surface is plated with noble metal, such as Au and Pd, by which the noble metal-plating film having extremely high adhesive strength can be obtained.
