Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the absolute position in many number of arbitrary rotations, by coupling the gears of two detecting parts each comprising a ring shaped resistor and a semi-circular terminal plate, and detecting the absolute position based on the detected outputs of the detecting parts. CONSTITUTION:First and second detecting parts (a) and (b) are composed of the following parts: ring shaped resistors 5 and 6; semi-circular terminal plates 7 and 8; first sliders 11 and 13 and second sliders 12 and 14, which are slidden on said resistors and terminal plates; and gears 9 and 10. The gears 9 and 10 are intermeshed each other. A shaft 1 of the first detecting part (a) is fixed to a rotary member for detecting a rotary position to be detected. Terminal voltages V1-V4 at said sliders 11-14, which are generated when the rotary member is rotated many times, are inputted into an operating electronic circuit. The operating electronic circuit outputs a voltage, which is linearly changed during the rotations of 0-(n) times, i.e., a voltage, which expresses the absolute position in many numbers of rotations, based on the terminal voltages. The number of many rotations, which can be detected, can be set by changing the gear ratio of the gears 9 and 10.
