Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal head with no limitation regarding the shape and size of a substrate, by providing the substrate made of plastic or an insulating material mainly composed of plastic, a plurality of heating resistors formed on the upper end part of the substrate, and an electrode pattern for electrically conducting to the heating resistors. CONSTITUTION:Substrates 2a, 2b are made of plastic or an insulating material mainly composed of plastic. The substrates 2a, 2b are overlapped with each other so as to have a step part 2c at an end part 1a of a thermal head 1. Heating resistors 3 are disposed on the step part 2c. A common electrode 4 is held between the substrates 2a and 2b with a tip end 4a electrically conducted to a plurality of heating resistors 3. Signal electrodes 5 are formed on the surface of the substrate 2b so as to be electrically conducted to the heating resistors 3 separately formed respectively. Since the substrates are made of plastic or mainly composed of plastic, the degree of freedom is increased with respect to the shape and size of the thermal head; thus, the thermal head can be arbitrarily formed.
