Abstract

PURPOSE:To recover exhaust gas energy so as to improve heat efficiency of an internal combustion engine by providing a heat exchanger which generates super-heated steam by means of exhaust gas at the exhaust port of an exhaust gas turbine and a generator which generates electrical energy from said generated super-heated steam. CONSTITUTION:A turbocharger 3 having an AC motor 1 generator 4 is fitted to an exhaust manifold 2. An exhaust gas turbine 5 having an AC generator 6 is connected to the exhaust port 3c of the turbocharger 3. A heat exchanger 8 which generates super heated steam S by means of exhaust gas is provided at the exhaust port of an exhaust gas turbine 5. Electric power generated from a stator 6b is increased by rotation of the blade 7a of a steam turbine 7 driven by the super heated steam S. The exhaust gas energy is thus recovered and heat efficiency of an internal combustion engine can be improved remarkably.
