Abstract
PURPOSE: To aim at the miniaturization of an intake air device by partially closing the specified part of a ring suction passage at a low engine speed area, and making this suction passage so as to changed to one long suction passage, in case of a device which has the resonance supercharging of suction air generat ed by the resonance ring suction passage.
CONSTITUTION: A suction passage, feeding the inside of respective cylinders 2aW2d of an in-line 4-cylindered engine with suction air, is constituted of a resonance suction passage 5, a ring suction passage 6 being connected to the downstream end of this resonance suction passage 5 and formed by a collecting pipe part 9a of a suction manifold 9 and each independent suction passage 7 being formed in each independent pipe part 9b of the suction manifold 9 and bifurcately made contact with the ring suction passage 6. The ring suction passage 5 forms the ring collecting pipe part 9a into a two-fold structure whereby it is divided into a common suction passage 6a and a return suction passage 6b, and control valve 14 and 15 are installed in each position in and around the collecting part of these passages 6a and 6b. And, at a low engine speed area, these control valves 14 and 15 opened and closed respectively, forming a resonance supercharging state there.
