Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress dot hindrance and cross color without deteriorating horizontal resolution by mixing a Y/C separation output through frequency separation and that through a comb-line filter most suitably based on the result of the detection of the variation in luminance signal and chrominance signal in a vertical direction. CONSTITUTION:The titled circuit is provided with a Y/C separation means 20 to separate a composite signal by frequency separation, a Y/C separation means 10 which separates a composite signal by means of a comb-line filter, a synthesizing means 30 which synthesizes luminance signals YB, YL from said circuits 20, 30 with color signals CB, CL after weighting them, a means 40 to detect the correlation in the vertical direction between the luminance signals, a means 50 to detect the correlation in the vertical direction between the chrominance signals, and a means 60 to determine the weighting by the means 30 corresponding to the magnitude of said correlations. As the said correlation between the luminance signal and the chrominance signal become smaller, the more the Y/C separation output through frequency separation is weighted, inversely, the larger said correlation are, the more the output from the comb-line filter is weighted. As a result, without deteriorating the horizontal resolution, dot hindrance and cross color can be suppressed.
