Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce dot disturbance by using a picture correlation deciding means so as to decide the correlation of a picture and using an output of a horizontal or vertical direction filter as an output of a luminance signal chrominance signal separation filter with respect to a picture having a strong correlation. CONSTITUTION:A picture correlation deciding circuit 7 detects the correlation of vertical and horizontal pictures with respect to a noticed sampling point. When the vertical correlation is strong, a vertical direction color signal extraction filter 6a is selected. When the horizontal correlation is strong, the output of the horizontal color signal extraction filter 6b is selected. In other cases, the switch circuit 8 is switched to select the horizontal/vertical color signal extraction filter 6c. Thus, the effect of the luminance and chrominance signals for the leakage to each channel is decreased to reduce the dot disturbance.
