Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance and workability on a surface and in end face parts with good balance by biasing the dispersibility of the Al component in a plating layer much to the surface layer at the time of plating a steel sheet with a hot dip coating bath consisting of Zn contg. a specific ratio of Al. CONSTITUTION:The zinc hot dip coating bath contg. 0.3-3.5% Al and the balance Zn is used at the time of producing the hot dip Zn-Al alloy coated steel sheet by a zinc hot dip coating plant. The temp. of the material steel sheet to be advanced into this plating bath is maintained at the temp. lower by 10-80 deg.C than the temp. of the plating bath and the steel sheet is advanced into the bath. The thickness of the steel sheet is larger than the thickness of the plating layer and the temp. thereof is lower than the temp. of the plating bath and, therefore, the plating layer is cooled from the inside surface and the Al component is thickened to the part to be solidified with a delay according to this method. Said component is thus liable to gather on the front layer. The Al component is consequently distributed more in the surface layer in the plating layer and is less distributed at the boundary face with the steel sheet. The plated steel sheet having the excellent corrosion resistance and workability is thus obtd.
