Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a plated steel sheet having excellent powdering resistance and flaking resistance by providing a plating layer which has the specific compsn. consisting of Fe, Al and Zn and has the heavy coating weight contg. the GAMMA phase at the base iron boundary at a lower ratio and having no etazeta phase on the surface. CONSTITUTION:The steel sheet is immersed within an about 3sec, more preferably about 2sec in a Zn plating bath having a prescribed concn. of Al and after the coating weight of plating is adjusted, the steel sheet is introduced into an alloying furnace and is alloyed. The plating layer which has the compsn. consisting of 8-12% Fe, 0.05-0.25% Al and the balance Zn and has 45-90g/m<2> coating weight having <=1.0mum GAMMA phase at the base iron boundary and having no eta phase and zeta phase existing on the surface of the plating layer is thereby formed on at least one face of the steel sheet. The alloyed and zinc hot dipped steel sheet having the excellent powdering resistance and flaking resistance is thereby obtd. The flaking resistance is improved by providing a hard plating consisting of >=60% Fe and the balance Zn on the above-mentioned plating layer at need.
