Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a Zn-Cr based electroplating film having excellent surface grade and corrosion resistance by adding a specified amt. of a polyoxyalkylene derivative to a plating soln. at the time of forming the Zn-Cr based electroplating on the surface of a steel sheet. CONSTITUTION:When the plating of a Zn-Cr based alloy to be used for household electric appliances, automobiles, building materials, etc., having excellent surface grade and corrosion resistance and consisting of 5-40% Cr and the balance Zn is applied, a plating soln. contg. 10-150g/l Zn ion and 10-150g/l trivalent Cr ion, kept at 3-0.5pH by hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, and added with 0.01-20g/l of the polyoxyethylene derivative such as polyethylene glycol is used, electroplating is carried out at 50-250A/dm<2> current density, and a Zn-Cr plating layer with a surface having >=80 glossiness at 60 deg./60 deg. according to JIS Z-8741 and excellent brightness and having high corrosion resistance is formed at the rate of 10-50g/m<2>. When the layer is further plated with an Fe-Zn alloy contg. >60% Fe, the coated steel sheet is appropriately used for cationic electrodeposition coating.
