Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the title Zn-Cr electroplated steel sheet having excellent surface grade and corrosion resistance by plating a steel sheet with an acidic plating soln. contg. specified amts. of a Zn ion, a trivalent Cr ion, and a polyoxyethylene derivative. CONSTITUTION:When the plating of a Zn-Cr based alloy used for automobiles, household electric appliances, building materials, etc., having excellent surface grade and corrosion resistance, and consisting of 5-40% Cr and the balance Zn is applied, an acidic plating soln. contg. 10-150g/l Zn ion and 10-150g/l trivalent Cr ion, kept at 3-0.5pH by hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, and added with 0.01-20g/l of the polyoxyalkylene derivative such as polyethylene glycol is used, and plating is carried out at the temp. of 40-70 deg.C of the plating soln., with 30-200m/min relative velocity between the soln. and the steel sheet to be plated, and at >=50A/dm<2> current density. A Zn-Cr electrodeposited steel sheet having high corrosion resistance and an excellent surface grade is obtained in this way.
