Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform the welding from the rail bases up to the heads with the high efficiency by performing the Uranami welding on first layers of the rail bases by the submerged arc welding method and performing the welding on second and succeeding layers of the rail bases, and from the rail bellies to the heads by the electroslag welding.
CONSTITUTION: Rails 1 and 2 are set up at a groove interval and a backing machine 3 with a copper plate 4 are used for forming Uranami beads. Frame bodies 5 and 6 are used for preventing slag and molten metal from flowing out at the time of welding the rail bases. Straps 7 and 8 for welding the rail bellies and heads are set up slidably in the arrow 9 and 10 directions in the figure. When the electric power is supplied to a welding wire 11, a torch 12 is held by an oscillator 14 to oscillate horizontally in the arrow 13 direction and a carriage 16 to lift in the arrow 15 direction. By said constitution, the welding is performed while the tip of the wire 11 draws a locus 20. A DC power source with a constant voltage characteristic, the welding wire with the fine diameter 1.2W2.0mm and fused flux are used for the welding. By this method, the site welding of the rails is performed with high efficiency.
