Abstract
PURPOSE:To control the ignition timing to an optimum value at all times in response to knocking, by calculating the knock correction quantity in correspondence to the knocking of an internal combustion engine, and further correcting the learning value for the knock correction quantity when the knock correction quantity is on the lag side at the time of transient operation. CONSTITUTION:A knock sensor (a) for detecting the knocking of an internal combustion engine is provided, and the ignition timing is corrected and controlled in response to the output thereof. And in response to the output of the knock sensor (a), the knock correction quantity is calculated by a means (b). In addition, when the internal combustion engine is operated within the same load and speed region as that at the time when the knock correction quantity has been calculated, the knock correction quantity is stored by a means (c) as the learning value. Further, based on the knock correction quantity and the stored valve, the ignition timing is corrected by a means (d). On the other hand, in case the knock correction quantity has been calculated by the means (b), while the change in the load and speed of the internal combustion engine is greater than a specified value, if the knock correction quantity is on the lag side, the stored value is corrected by a means (e) in correspondence to the lag in ignition.
