Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain excellent charge-discharge characteristic even with a negative pole before forming and to make it possible to omit the partial charge of a cadmium pole performing the charge at a low current in the oxidation area of metallic cobalt followed by the charge at a normal current. CONSTITUTION:Charge is performed at a low current in the oxidation area of metallic cobalt followed by the charge at a normal current. By the use of the low current for the charge for the first forming, the metallic cobalt is first oxidized and activated substance of nickel hydroxide is not charged. Cadmium of the negative pole, however, is charged. Since the metallic cobalt does not contribute to the discharge, cadmium for the discharge compensation can be formed by omitting partial charge process as a result of the charge at a low current. Here, the low current charge is performed in the range of 0.01-0.1C and the normal charge 0.1-0.5C. Discharge characteristic can be further improved by additionally employing fluorine resin additive and conductive porous body forming to the cadmium pole.
