Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain an excellent discharge performance even though the conventional complicated process such as a partial charging is omitted, by using a positive electrode added with metal cobalt, using a cadmium oxide before transformation as a negative electrode, and soaking the negative electrode in an alkaline water solution. CONSTITUTION:This storage battery is composed of a nickel electrode including metal cobalt and a cadmium electrode before transformation, and in this case, in order to suppress the deterioration of the discharge property, when an electrode mainly of cadmium oxide of the most excellent productivity, especially a paste type electrode, is used as the cadmium electrode before transformation, the cadmium electrode is soaked in an alkaline water solution, and at least a part is transformed to cadmium hydroxide. And as the alkaline water solution, a caustic alkaline water solution is available, and used for about 30 minutes to 2 hours in a room temperature, while for a shorter time when the temperature is raised. Furthermore, adding a fluorine resin to the cadmium electrode to form into a conductive porous body is effective to improve the charge and discharge property.
