Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body superior in sensitivity and potential stability at the time of repeated uses by using a specified azo pigment for a photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer formed on a conductive supporting body contains one of the azo pigments having the structure in which an organic residue represented by formula I is bonded with optionally substituted an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or aromatic heterocyclic ring and may bond to it via a bonding group, and in the formula I, where each of R1 and R2 is H atom, alkyl group, or the like; Ar1 is an aryl or aromatic heterocyclic group; X is a residue necessary to condense with the benzene ring and to form a polycyclic aromatic ring or heterocyclic group, thus permitting the obtained electrophotographic sensitive body to have practicable high sensitivity characteristics and stable potential characteristics at the time of repeated uses.
