Abstract

PURPOSE:To develop a cable conductor excellent in strength and bending resistance, by incorporating specific amounts of Zn and Al and one or more kinds among small amounts of Ni, Si, and Ti to Cu or by incorporating, besides Zn, one or more elements among Ni, Si, and Ti and coating the surface of the resulting Cu alloy with Sn or Sn-P alloy. CONSTITUTION:A cable conductor is composed of a Cu alloy consisting of, by weight, 5-40% Zn, 0.2-2.0% Al, 0.1-1.0% of one or >=2 elements among Ni, Si, and Ti, and the balance Cu or a Cu alloy consisting of 5-40% Zn, 0.2-2.0% of one or >=2 elements among Ni, Si, and Ti, and the balance Cu, and the surface of a cable made of the latter Cu alloy is coated with Sn or Sn-P alloy to improve solderability. Since elongation is regulated to >=30% in the cable conductors made of both Cu alloys mentioned above, the Cu alloy material having superior bending resistance as a cable conductor used in a moving part to be subjected to repeated stress of bending, tension, tortion, etc., can be obtained.
