Abstract

PURPOSE: To set a detection zone for obtaining a differential output at the front of a condenser mirror, by forming a non-mirror surface partly on a reflection mirror surface of the condenser mirror to reduce the quantity of light reflected.
CONSTITUTION: A parabolic mirror 1 as the condenser mirror has a reflection mirror surface 1a and a non-mirror surface part 1b to reduce the quantity of reflected lights of incident infrared rays. A pyroelectric type infrared sensor 2 is located near the focus f1 of the parabolic mirror 1 and pyroelectric type infrared elements 3a and 3b are located on both sides of an optical axis facing the parabolic mirror 1. As an object to be detected shifts to a detection zone of an area 2 from an area 1, a differential output appears at an FET for amplifying differential outputs of the elements 3a and 3b and infrared rays from the object being detected are detected. With further shifting of the object, no differential output appears at the FEt in an area 3. With the entry of the object into an area 6, a differential output appears at the FEt.
