Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a saccharide derivative suitable as a raw material for statine homologue useful as an intermediate for enzyme inhibitor industrially and advantageously, by reacting a glucose derivative with a specific Grignard reagent. CONSTITUTION:A glucose derivative shown by formula I is reacted with a Grignard reagent shown by the formula RMgX (R is alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, aryl or aralkyl; X is Cl, Br or I) preferably in an inert solvent (preferably ethyl ether, THF or benzene) at -78-50 deg.C for 30min-5hr to give the aimed compound shown by formula II. The amount of the Grignard reagent used is preferably 1-3 equivalents based on the compound shown by formula I.
