Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove acidic phosphorus, ammonia nitrogen and suspended particles from water by filtering the same using a multi-step sand filter incorporating a pulverization product of water-granulated slag and a zeolite of 0.3-2mm in grain size. CONSTITUTION:A multi-step sand filter is constructed by incorporating a pulverization product of water-granulated slag and a zeolite with the particles adjusted to a grain size of 0.3-2mm. Using this multi-step sand filter, acidic phosphorus, ammonia nitrogen and suspended particles are removed from water. The multi- step sand filter may be for example a multi-step vertical flow type. Such a multi-step sand filter is conductive not only to purifying lakes, marshes and rivers and securing water sources but also to recovering waterside scene or promoting the construction of a park affording a picturesque water scenery.
