Abstract

PURPOSE:To sufficiently suppress the side lobe of each polarized wave by providing a monopole antenna whose length is 1/4 of the wavelength of each polarized wave, a circular flange and a metallic ridge so as to set the beam width of each polarized wave respectively to an optimum beam width. CONSTITUTION:Metallic ridges (for f1)3 and (for f2) 4 of a prescribed shape are provided on the inner wall of a circular waveguide 1 in crossing with a polarized face orthogonal to the guide axis of the waveguide 1 and a circular flange 2 is provided on the aperture of the waveguide 1. Then monopole antennas 5, 6 whose length is 1/4 wavelength of each polarized wave are provided on a position at a 1/4 wavelength of the polarized waves (f1, f2) from the inner wall of the waveguide 1. Then the antennas 5, 6 are excited by the induced current induced in the flange 2 and radiate a wave, and the electromagnetic field of re-radiation cancels the radiated electromagnetic field of the waveguide 1 at a broad region of the radiated electromagnetic wave of the waveguide 1. Thus, the beam width of each polarized wave is set respectively to the optimum beam width so as to suppress the side lobe of each polarized wave.
