Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the performance characteristics of a superconducting element by a method wherein a magnetic shielding is provided so as to prevent a magnetic field created by a cooling element from giving an influence upon the superconducting element. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting element 1 is bonded to a cooler 2 with an electric insulation and a magnetic shielding plate 12 between in a state of good heat conduction and, further, enclosed in an atmosphere of inert gas such as argon, nitrogen, neon or helium by an enclosing vessel 3. By applying a current to the electronic cooling element of the cooler 2, the temperature of the cooler 2 drops and the superconducting element 1 connected to it thermally is cooled to the operating temperature at which the superconducting element 1 shows a superconducting phenomenon. With this constitution, a magnetic field created by the current applied to the Peltier effect element does not give an influence upon the performance of the superconducting element 1 so that the malfunctioning of the superconducting element caused by the magnetic field can be avoided.
