Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve junction strength of the negative electrode of a magnetron by composing endshields for holding the filament of the negative electrode and leads for supplying current to the filament, with a sintered metallic material in which a substance for accelerating sintering is added to powder basically consisting of a metal with high melting point. CONSTITUTION:Endshields 1C, 1D or/and leads 1A, 1B for composing the negative electrode 1 of a magnetron are composed of a sintered metallic material made in such a manner that a substance for accelerating sintering is added to powder basically consisting of a metal with high melting point and the powder is sintered at a high temperature after being formed. Molybdenum is used as the metal with high melting point and 0.01-0.1% of nickel is used as the substance to accelerate sintering. Accordingly, sintering of crystal grain boundary of the sintered metallic material is accelerated and its holes are lessened, so that junction failure caused by shortage of solder is prevented and junction strength of the negative electrode 1 of the magnetron can be improved.
