Abstract

PURPOSE:To form an optical system which is variable in conjugate length by using lens arrays by disposing plural pieces of the lens arrays which are arranged with many pieces of distributed index type rod lenses in the optical axis direction in such a manner that the optical axes thereof are aligned approximately to each other. CONSTITUTION:Both the 1st lens array 9 and the 2nd lens array 10 are disposed apart by a specified spacing 2 in the state of aligning the optical axes approximately to each other. The optical constants and lens lengths of both are equal and the lens lengths are selected at the lengths at which an unmagnified image 4 of an object 3 is obtd. An inverted and reduced image 20 of the object 3 is formed in the intermediate position of the 1st lens array 9 and the 2nd lens array 10 by the 1st lens array 9 and the inverted and magnified image of the image 20 is formed on an image plane 6 by the 2nd lens array 10, by which the erecting unmagnified image 4 of the object 4 is eventually formed on the image plane 4. The conjugate length can be varied as desired by changing the inter-lens array spacing 2 by as much as needed, i.e., by changing the relative positional relation in the optical axis direction.
