Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately decide a color by making the optical path of illumination light to an object different from the optical path of scattered light from the object, and propagating the scattered light from the object to a single optical fiber through a converging cylindrical lens. CONSTITUTION:Light emitted by a halogen lamp 1 is projected on the object A at an about 45 deg. irradiation angle through a convergence lens 3 and converged on one point. This converged light is scattered by the object A and its scattered light is received by the convergence cylindrical lens 4. Then the light received by the lens 4 is converged by a convergence lens 6 in a controller 20 through an optical fiber 5 and projected on three filters of a three-color photodetector 7. Then the light which is incident on respective photodiodes through the three filters of the element 7 is converted into electric signals, which are amplified by an amplifier 8 and a color deciding device 9 decides the color. Thus, the color is accurately decided.
