CONSTITUTION:Either of side walls 224 of guide path 223 for developer A is made into a transparent glass plate 224 (G) functioning as the optical-path splitting member of toner concentration sensor 3, and for light source 4 main photodetector 5 and light-quantity compensating photodetector 6 are provided. Consequently, part of light L emitted from light source 4 to measurement position B becomes illumination light L1, with which developer A is irradiated. While its reflected light L2 is made incident on main photodetector 5, part of it is positively reflected on the surface of glass plate 224 (G). The positive reflected light L3 is made incident on light-quantity compensating photodetector 6 and outputs of both photodetectors 5 and 6 are compared mutually and decided by toner concentration control circuit 51 to detect accurate toner concentration.
