Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable previously used font data to be printed immediately when a power supply for a printer is re-switched ON after being once switched OFF, by selectively storing font data loaded in a RAM into a nonvolatile memory. CONSTITUTION:When a store switch 28 and a start switch 29 on an operating switch panel 8 are simultaneously pressed, a CPU 3 selects a font first stored in an internal RAM 5. A font selet switch 26 is pressed a number of times, whereby one of fonts stored in the RAM 5 which one is to be stored into an EEPROM 6 is selected. With the store switch 28 pressed, the CPU 3 stores the selected font data and data necessary for control thereof into the EEPROM 6 when the selected font data can be entirely inputted into a free area in the EEPROM 16. When the required font data in the RAM 5 is stored into the EEPROM 6, the data is not lost even when a power supply for a printer is switched OFF, and the data can be printed immediately when the power supply is re-switched to ON.
