Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable a return to an original printing mode and an original format after printing in a different printing mode and a different format, by adding a second storage means to a printer in which printing mode and format are controlled according to the content of a first storage means varied by a control code from a host device, thereby enabling temporary retraction and recalling. CONSTITUTION:With a power supply switched ON, initial values concerning printing mode and format are read through initial value setting switches 26, and are stored into a memory A23. When a control code is sent from a host device, the code is analyzed, and is set into a relevant bit in the memory A23, whereby a set printing mode or format is reflected in the subsequent printed result. When an instruction for retraction is inputted, the status of the present printing mode and format is transferred to a memory B24, and after the retraction, the input of the control codes is reflected only in the memory A23 and does not affect the data retracted in the memory B24. When an instruction for recalling is given form an instruction switch 27 in this condition, the content of the memory B24 is transferred to the memory A23.
