Abstract

PURPOSE:To change a pulse frequency regardless of an AC power source frequency and elevate dust-removing efficiency by freely changing the opening/ closing frequency of a switch for taking out a high voltage DC pulse impressed between electrodes from a capacitor according to the concentration of soot and dust. CONSTITUTION:An AC electric from an AC electric power source is converted by a rectifier 5 into a high voltage direct current and then accumulated in a capacitor 20. Then, the electric charge which has been accumulated in the capacitor 20 by the opening/closing motion of the switch 21 is taken out in the form of a pulse and impressed between a discharge electrode 7 and dust- collecting electrode 8 to remove the soot and dust in the air passing between both electrode 7, 8. In this case, the quantity of soot and dust between these electrodes 7, 8 is detected by a sensor 11, the opening/closing frequency of the switch 21 is changed according to this detected value and the frequency of the impressed high voltage DC pulse is changed to improve the dust-removing efficiency.
