Abstract

PURPOSE: To dislodge dust electrically and automatically not by hammering effect by providing the 3rd electrodes between an electric discharge electrode and dust collecting electrodes, and moing electrostatically charged particles zigzag downward.
CONSTITUTION: The 3rd electrodes 3 are provided between an electric discharge electrode 1 and dust collecting electrodes 2 of an electrical dust precipitator, and the potential of the polarity reversed from that of the electrodes 2 is pulse- charged at suitable time intervals successively from above to below the electrodes 3 as against the corona discharge generated at right angles to the flow of a dusty gas. Thence, the charged particels collected on the electrodes 2 move zigzag downward between the electrodes 3 and the electrodes 2. Since no hammering effect is used in this way, there is no rescattering of the dust, and the dust is collected efficiently with the simple device.
