Abstract

PURPOSE: To collect dust of low resistance with good efficiency by providing grid electrodes of the same potential as that of dust collecting electrodes near the dust collecting electrodes, between the discharge electrodes and dust collecting electrodes of an electric precipitator.

CONSTITUTION: Parallel grid electrodes 3 are provided near dust collecting electrodes 2, between the multiple linear discharge electrodes 1 suspended in one row in the direction of gas flow G, and the dust collecting electrodes 2 opposedly disposed on both sides thereof by maintaining a suitable distance. The dust collecting electrodes 2 and the grid electrodes 3 are grounded and a negative DC high voltage is applied to the discharge electrodes 1. Then, the dust of low resistance charged by the corona discharge of the discharge electrodes 1 are attracted toward the grid electrodes 3 by the electric field generated between the discharge electrodes 1 and the grid electrodes 3, it pass through the opening parts of the grid electrodes 3 and enter the spaces 4, where it stick and discharge on the dust collecting electrodes 2. At this time, the electric field of the spaces 4 is weak, so the dust are efficiently collected without causing any jumping.
