Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain staple fibers capable of giving a finished yarn having high bulk by drawing in relatively high speed, and comprising an outer package consisting of a cationic dyeable copolyester and a core consisting of a polyethyleneterephthalate (abbreviated as PET in the following) having a specific intrinsic viscosity. CONSTITUTION: The staple fiber in of an outer package/core two components- concentric filament in which the outer package is a cationic dyeable copolyester (PET/5-sodium sulfoisophthalate having approximately 2 mol% 5-sodium sulfoisophtalate groups in the polymer chain), the core is of a PET having approximately an intrinsic viscosity, of approximately 0.6. The staple fiber is a practically amorphous spinning oriented multi-filament obtained by spinning at a drawing speed of at least approximately 3000 yard/min.
