Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a transient responsiveness at the time of power supply interruption and to reduce the size and weight of a whole uninterruptible power source by connecting a backup battery through a 3-winding transformer and a power reactor/inverter between an inverter and smoothing means. CONSTITUTION:A commercial power supply 1 is input to a first power converter (inverter) 20 for converting to an AC having predetermined voltage and frequency, and the conversion output is input through the primary and secondary sides of a 3-winding transformer 30 to a second power smoothing unit 44. A battery 10 is connected through a power reactor/inverter 50 to the tertiary winding 33 of the transformer 30. The phase angle of a switching element of the reactor/inverter 50 is controlled by a controller provided separately to charge the battery 10 when the power supply 1 is normal, and power is supplied from the battery 10 to a load 60 at the time of power interruption.
