Abstract
PURPOSE:To maintain an initial crystal state and to increase a crystallization rate by forming an optical recording layer provided on a substrate of an alloy film consisting of In and Te and specifying the atomic number ratio of In and Te. CONSTITUTION:The optical recording layer 4 is provided via an underlying layer 3 on the substrate 2 and the optical recording layer 4 is formed of the alloy film consisting of In and Te. The atomic number ratio of In and Te is specified between 1:1 and 2:3. Since the atomic number ratio between 1:1 and 2:3 suffices in such a manner, the compsn. control at the time of formation is facilitated and the recording state is sufficiently stabilized at room temp. by using this alloy as the optical recording layer 4. The initial medium characteristic is thus maintained without being impaired even if writing and erasing are repeatedly executed; in addition, crystallization is executed by projection of a short period at the time of erasing by the projection of laser light.
