Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the steepness of a threshold characteristic and frequency characteristic by using a polyamic acid film obtd. after a polymn. condensation reaction effected by a low-temp. soln. polymn. method as a liquid crystal oriented film. CONSTITUTION:The polyamic acid film 3 obtd. after a diamine compd. having the benzene ring skeleton bonded by a methylene group and tetracarboxylic acid or the anhydride thereof are subjected to the polymn. condensation reaction by the low-temp. soln. polymn. method is used as the liquid crystal oriented film. The steepness of the threshold characteristic and the frequency characteristic are thereby improved and, therefore, the display of a high contrast and high grade with decreased crosstalks is enabled even by high-duty driving. Since the oriented film can be formed at the low temp., the need for slow heating and slow heating stages is eliminated and, therefore, the production cost is greatly reduced. On the other hand, there are no restrictions on the substrate materials to be used and the display device of an extremely thin type and lightweight for which a color display adopting org. color filters or plastic substrates are used is enabled.
