【考案の詳細な説明】 本考案は外部からの電気信号により数字,文字
等を表示する表示装置に関し、特に外部回路との
接続を行なうリード端子部の改良に関する。

従来、この種の表示装置は、例えば放電表示装
置を例にあげて説明するならば、第1図a,第1
図bに示す如く、放電電極(図示せず)と放電電
極を被覆する誘電体層(図示せず)とを表面有す
る第一の絶縁基板1と、同様の第二の絶縁基板2
を放電空間を形成するべく放電電極、すなわち表
示用電極が内側になるように対向配置して成る
が、その際、外部駆動回路との接続のための放電
電極端子部3はリード線4との接続を行うために
第1図aに示す如く、放電表示装置の両側に位置
するか、あるいは放電表示装置の相隣る二辺に位
置するのが普通であつた。しかし、この端子部構
造を有する放電表示装置を外部駆動回路に接続す
る場合、端子部が一辺に揃つていないため、外部
駆動回路のリード線長が非常に長くなり、放電表
示装置の動作不安定が原因となつたり、リード配
線の為の余分なスペースを必要とする等の欠点が
あつた。更に電極端子部のスペースが二辺必要な
為、表示装置の外形寸法が大きくなる欠点があつ
た。

の絶縁基板を前記電極が内側になるように対向配
置し、前記電極とリード線とを接続するための電
極端子を前記絶縁基板上に有する表示装置におい
て、前記電極端子が形成される絶縁基板の端部が
前記絶縁基板表面に対して傾斜角度をもつてお
り、前記電極端子が前記電極の延長上にあつて前
記傾斜角度を有する面上に形成されていることを
特徴とする表示装置が得られる。

による放電表示板の一実施例を説明する。

子電極7を設ける第一の絶縁基板5の一辺を第2
図bに示す如く、30°の角度で研磨を行つた。し
かる後、スクリーン印刷法にて所定形状の放電電
極(図示せず)、次いで放電電極を被覆する形で
誘電体層(図示せず)を絶縁基板表面上に形成し
た。この際、絶縁基板端部を絶縁基板表面に対
し、30゜の傾斜角度をもたせている為、絶縁基板
端部の電極端子7は放電電極印刷時、同時形成す
ることが出来た。すなわち、従来の絶縁基板表面
に対し90゜の角度をなす絶縁基板側面に電極端子
7をスクリーン印刷法にて放電電極と同時形成す
ることが不可能であるのに対し、本考案では放電
電極の延長上にある電極端子7を傾斜角度を有す
る面上に容易に形成することが出来る。この様に
形成した第一の絶縁基板5と同じく、第二の絶縁
基板6に放電電極,電極端子,誘電体層を形成し
た。かかる2枚の絶縁基板を各々の電極端子7が
同一辺内に位置する様、相対向させ、その周囲を
低融点ガラス10で封着し、放電空間を形成し
た。更にネオンガスを導入して封止した後、電極
端子7にリード線8,9を半田付し、この接続部
をエポキシ樹脂11にて被覆した。尚、電極端子
7にリード線8,9を半田付けする場合、第2図
bに示す如く、2枚の絶縁基板5,6間のすき間
は約6mm、奥行きは約5mmであり、従来通りの半
田付け作業にて、接続は可能であつた。この結
果、電極端子7と接続したリード線8,9が全て
同一辺内に位置する放電表示装置が完成した。

ード線8,9が全て同一辺内に揃い、外部駆動回
路を構成するプリント基板(図示せず)の一直線
上に接続することが出来る為、外部駆動回路のリ
ード線長が短かくなり、放電表示装置の動作不安
定となつたり、プリント基板の余分なスペースを
必要とすることが無くなつた。更に表示装置の絶
縁基板5,6各々に電極端子部のスペースが必要
で無くなる為、表示装置の外形寸法縮小化を為さ
しめた。
