Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔産業上の利用分野〕 本発明はシート状の樹脂の溶着・溶断に用いられる高周
波ウェルダの改良に関し、特に誘電損の小さい樹脂を溶
着φ溶断するのに適したものである。
〔従来の技術〕
近年、樹脂の多機能化が要求されるのに対応して種々の
物性を有するフィルムが市場に進出している。従来、樹
脂フィルムの溶着・溶断は主に高周波ウェルダやヒート
シーラーを用いて行なわれている。
〔発明が解決しようとする問題点〕
従来の高周波ウェルダは、ポリ塩化ビニル等の比較的誘
電損の高い樹脂フィルムの溶着・溶断にtt用いられて
いるが、誘電損の低いポリエチレンやポリプロピレンの
溶着φ溶断は行なうことができなかった。これに対して
、ヒートシーラーによるポリエチレンやポリプロピレン
のフィルム包装は行なわれている。しかし、例えば架橋
処理されたポリエチレンやポリプロピレンの溶着・溶断
は不可能であった。また、延伸処理されたフィルムをヒ
ートシーラーで溶着しようとすると、熱収縮するため、
包装等には使用できないという問題があった。
本発明は上記問題点を解決するためになされたものであ
り、ポリエチレンやポリプロピレン、延伸処理したフィ
ルムでも溶着・溶断が可能な高周波ウェルダを提供する
ことを目的とする。
〔問題点を解決するための手段〕
本発明の高周波ウェルダは、1対の電極間にシート状の
樹脂をはさみ、高周波を印加して上記シート状の樹脂を
溶着・溶断する高周波ウェルダにおいて、上記電極を加
熱する手段を設けたことを特徴とするものである。
なお、本発明において、電極を加熱する手段は1対の電
極のうち一方だけ又は両方の電極に設けることができる
が、取付けの容易な上部電極側に設けることが望ましい
また、電極の温度は65〜110℃に設定することが望
ましい。
〔作用〕
本発明の高周波ウェルダによれば、電極を加熱する手段
を設けたことにより、従来と同じ電圧を印加し高周波の
周波数が同一であったとしても、□電極からの電子放射
量を増大させることができ。
電流の増大により出力を増大させることができる。この
ため、誘電損の低いポリエチレンやポリプロピレン、あ
るいは延伸処理したフィルムでも効果的に加熱すること
ができ、従来の高周波ウェルダやヒートシーラーでは不
可能であった溶着・溶断が行なえるようになる。
本発明において、電極(金型)の温度として適当な範囲
は、65℃〜電極(金型)に樹脂が部分的に融着して変
形等が生じる直前の温度まである。
これは、電極の温度が85℃未満であると、電極に印加
する電圧を高くしても、樹脂の溶着が困難になるためで
ある。なお、接着強度の観点からは、電極の温度は80
℃以上であることがより望ましい、また、電極の上限温
度は、例えばポリエチレンの場合85℃、ポリプロピレ
ンの場合は 110℃とすることが望ましい。
なお、上述したような電極からの電子線放射量の増大は
、電極に印加する電圧を高くすることによっても達成で
きる可使性もあると予想される。
しかし、電圧を高くすると電極からの放電が起るため、
溶着Φ溶断が不可能になる。
〔実施例〕
以下、本発明の実施例を図面を参照して説明する。
第1図は本発明に係る高周波ウェルダの概略構成図であ
る。第1図において、高圧電源lにはチョークコイル2
を直列に介して、発振器3及び上部電極7と下部電極8
とからなる1対の電極がそれぞれ並列に接続されている
。上記発振器は、発振用真空管4の7ノ一ドーカソード
間に、コンデンサ5及びチョークコイル6の直列回路を
接続したものである。上記下部電極8は作業台9に一体
的に固定されており、これらの上面に溶着・溶断される
べきフィルム状の樹脂10が重ねられて載置される。一
方、上記上部電極7の下端には、金型電極11が上記樹
脂10と対向するように取付けられている。更に、この
金型電極!lには抵抗ヒータを有する加熱器12が取付
けられている。
上記実施例において用いられた高圧電源1はトランスに
より 200vの3相交流を昇圧して最大12kVの交
流電源電圧を生成するものである。また。
発振器3が発生する高周波の周波数は27.12 MH
z近傍である。そして、出力は最大8.OkWまで上昇
させることができる。
実際に、上記高周波ウェルダを用い、下部電極8上に厚
み280 g tsのポリエチレンフィルム2枚を41
21し、上部電極7を押つけてポリエチレンフィルムの
中央部を直線状に1111幅で接着するという実験を行
なった。この実験では、加熱器12により金型電極11
の温度を変化させ、出力及び溶着時間は3.2kW、4
秒、  4.lkW、5秒の2つの条件にそれぞれ固定
した。そして、接着された2枚のポリエチレンシートの
一端を上下に引張り、両者が剥離したときの荷重を調べ
た。これらの結果を第2図及び第3図に示す。
第2図及び第3図から明らかなように、金型電極11(
7)温度が60℃では出力が3.2kW−C’も、4.
1kWでも接着ができなかったが、65℃以上で接着可
能となり、金型電極11の温度が高くなるほど接着強度
が向上している。ただし、金型電極11の温度が85℃
を超えると、樹脂が部分的に金型電極11に融着し、フ
ィルムの変形が生じた。なお、出力の大きざにかかわら
ず、金型電極11の温度と接着強度との関係はほぼ同様
な傾向を示す、ただし、出力が3.OkW未渦になると
、接着可能な下限温度が高くなる傾向が認められたので
、出力は3.0kW以上に設定することが望ましい。
比較のために、金型電極11の加熱を行なわなかった以
外は、上記実施例と同様にしてポリエチレンフィルムの
溶着を行なおうとしたが、溶着できなかった。
〔発明の効果〕
以上詳述したように本発明の高周波ウェルダによれば、
ポリエチレンやポリプロピレン、延伸処理したフィルム
でも溶着・溶断が可能になる等工業上極めて顕著な効果
を奏するものである。

Claims (2)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. (1)1対の電極間にシート状の樹脂をはさみ、高周波
    を印加して上記シート状の樹脂を溶着・溶断する高周波
    ウェルダにおいて、上記電極を加熱する手段を設けたこ
    とを特徴とする高周波ウェルダ。
  2. (2)電極の温度を65〜110℃とすることを特徴と
    する特許請求の範囲第1項記載の高周波ウェルダ。
