Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 で表わされる新規なバラヒドロキシ安息香酸トコシルエ
ステルに関する。
本発明の化合物は、たとえばパラヒドロキシ安息香酸と
トコシルアルコールとを適当な溶媒（トルエン、ベンゼ
ン、クロロホルム、ジクロロメクンなど）に溶かし、ル
イス酸（塩化アルミニうム、四塩化スズなど）やプロト
ン酸（濃硫酸など）の酸触媒の存在下に反応させること
により得ることができる。
また、バラヒドロキシ安息香酸の反応性誘導体として酸
ハライド（酸クロライドなど）、酸無水物、クロロ炭酸
エステルなどとの混合酸無水物または活性エステル（ｐ
−トルエンスルホン酸とのエステルなど）も原料として
用いることが可能である。
本発明化合物（１）は、木材害虫である白蟻に対する忌
避効力が特に優れており、木材保存剤としての利用に適
している。
本化合物のイエシロアリに対する忌避効力は忌避率で８
０〜９０％を示した。同一濃度（１００００ｐｐｍ）で
オクチルエステルの場合は約３５％であった。
本発明化合物を木材保存剤として使用するに際しては、
本発明化合物を適当な溶剤に溶かし、木質材料などの原
材料に塗布、散布または浸漬、注入などの方法や、樹脂
に添加して用いることも可能である。
また、防腐剤、殺菌剤、殺虫剤、他の忌避剤と併用して
用いることも可能であり、木材保存上、特に有効である
。
実施例 脱水器、温度計を付した２００ｎ＋１三つロフラスコに
ｐ−ヒドロキシ安息香酸１３．８　ｇ、トコシルアルコ
ール３２．６ｇ、濃硫酸０．７ｇおよびトルエン５０ｍ
１を仕込み、加熱還流下に７時間反応させた。反応物を
水洗後、トルエンを留去し、残香をトルエンとヘキサン
の混合溶媒から再結晶すると、融点７６．５〜７８．５
℃のｐ−ヒドロキシ安息香酸トコシルエステルの白色結
晶が得られた。
