Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily prepare a strong and tough formed body of active carbon by calendering a sheet prepd. by screening slurry of wood charcoal, rayon, pulp, binder, or ceramic material, etc., molding the calendered sheet, and calcining the worked product. CONSTITUTION:Slurry is prepd. by mixing powder of wood charcoal, coconut shell, or coal, rayon, pulp, or saw dust with binder or ceramic material. The slurry is then formed to a sheet by a screening process and the density is elevated by calendering. Obtd. sheet is processed to a molded body, which is then activated by calcination wherein a skeletal material is formed by fusing the ceramic material which is coagulated. Thus, a target formed product of active carbon is obtd.
